2016 has been a massive year for the Great Barrier Reef and our fight to protect the natural icon, which provides more than 69,000 tourism jobs.
We have built a core supporter base of 260,000 reef fighters, who have taken tens of thousands of actions and made thousands of submissions to tackle global warming and kick start renewable energy.
This year, together we made protection of the Great Barrier Reef the biggest environmental issue on the Federal election agenda. Twice during the election campaign the Great Barrier Reef was listed as one of the top five issues in Australian media by iSentia.
The combination of a long-term, effective campaign with a strategic ramp-up of activities and tactics during the election campaign has delivered this outstanding success.
